Marine Corps Air Station Miramar

BASE TOURS

WEEKLY

MCAS Miramar offers a weekly tour program open to the public. The tours are free of charge and take place on Monday - Friday each week, weather and operational commitments permitting. Please contact the MCAS Miramar Public Affairs Office at least one week prior to the tour date requested. Tours will not be held in October due to the annual MCAS Miramar Air Show. This program is designed to provide a better, more dynamic opportunity for community residents to familiarize themselves with MCAS Miramar’s mission and its Marines and Sailors. The tours will include an air station windshield tour, to include Marine Aircraft Wing fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum is adjacent to MCAS Miramar and is accessible from Miramar Rd with no military escort required; it is closed on Mondays. If you are interested in attending a tour or would like more information, please contact the Public Affairs Office at (858) 577-6000 to make a reservation. Reservations must be made no later than one week in advance.

GROUP TOUR REQUESTS

All special group tour requests must be submitted in writing 30 days prior to the event date. All special requests must include the following pertinent information: a point of contact, date of tour being requested, number of people in group, name of requesting organization and the length of the tour requested. The request should also specify any special requests such as use of the mess hall, facility needs, etc. There is no age limit for our tours, but we recommend not bringing young children. We prefer that special tours consist of groups with 20 or more people. However, groups of less than 20 people may ask to join a larger tour group already scheduled to visit the base. Barring special circumstances, we only offer tours on weekdays. We welcome foreign travelers to visit our air station. However, we discourage and cannot accommodate requests made by tail spotters (visitors who take pictures of the tails of aircraft for use as collector cards). Foreign travelers must also submit passports to our office 30 days in advance of requested tours.

* Please note that we do not offer lodging or transportation on the installation for tour groups.

*All group tour requests must be submitted in writing 30 days prior to the event date for coordination purposes.
