
Major Dimalanta entered the Marine Corps by enlistment into the Delayed Entry Program in July of 1992. After graduating from Campolindo High School in June of 1993, he was assigned to L Company, 3rd Battalion, MCRD, San Diego, California. Upon completion of recruit training in September of 1993, he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. PFC Dimalanta reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California and then Motor Transport Operators Course 5-94 at Camp Johnson North Carolina. In December of 1993, upon completion of his initial training, PFC Dimalanta was assigned to 4th Light Anti Aircraft Missile Battalion in Hayward California. PFC Dimalanta then enrolled at the community college, Diablo Valley College. While serving at 4th LAAM Battalion, PFC Dimalanta served as a Dispatcher and Squad Leader for the Motor Transport Platoon. In May of 1994, Lance Corporal Dimalanta participated in Operation Pinnacle Advance in Yuma, Arizona. While Serving at 4th LAAM, Lance Corporal Dimalanta applied for and was selected for the Platoon Leaders Course and attended Officer Candidate School for PLC-Juniors in July of 1996 in Quantico, Virginia. Upon return to 4th LAAM, Corporal Dimalanta served as the Platoon Sergeant for the Motor Transport Platoon as well as transferred to San Jose State University. In July of 1997, Corporal Dimalanta returned to Quantico, Virginia for PLC-Seniors in July of 1997.
In February of 1998, 4th LAAM Battalion began the process of Deactivating and Corporal Dimalanta was transferred to Headquarters, 23rd Marine Regiment in San Bruno, California. In the Summer of 1998, Corporal Dimalanta participated in Operation Urban Warrior. Corporal Dimalanta was then meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August of 1998 where he assumed the duties of Platoon Sergeant for the Motor Transport Platoon . Sergeant Dimalanta graduated in December of 1999 from San Jose State University with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Technology and Minor in Business Management. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in April of 2000. Second Lieutenant Dimalanta graduated from The Basic School in May of 2001 and attended Air Defense Control Officers Course in 29 Palms California.
In September of 2001, Second Lieutenant Dimalanta then was assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron-4, on Okinawa, Japan. While serving with MACS-4, Second Lieutenant Dimalanta served as a Crew Commander at the Tactical Air Operations Center. Following the attacks on the World Trade Center, Second Lieutenant Dimalanta deployed to Guam for Operation Noble Eagle in December of 2001. In April of 2002, Second Lieutenant Dimalanta redeployed with MACS-4 from Guam to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. In October of 2002, First Lieutenant Dimalanta returned to Okinawa and then transferred to Marine Air Control Squadron-1 in February of 2003 in Yuma Arizona. Immediately upon checking in, First Lieutenant Dimalanta was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom at Camp Coyote Kuwait. While Serving at MACS-1, Captain Dimalanta served as a Crew Commander, Executive Officer at the Tactical Air Operations Center, and the Detachment Commander for Headquarters and Service Detachment. In July of 2006, Captain Dimalanta reported back to Quantico to attend Expeditionary Warfare School and graduated in May of 2007. During the summer of 2007, Capt Dimalanta served as an Academics Instructor at Officer Candidate School. In September of 2007, Captain Dimalanta reported to serve as the Executive Officer for Recruiting Station San Francisco. In July of 2010, Captain Dimalanta transferred back to the Reserves and served as an Action Officer for Marine Corps Installations West G-6. In January 2012, Major Dimalanta assumed his current billet as the Executive Officer for Reserve Support Unit, Air Stations West.
Awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation (3rd award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Armed Force Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award), Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve medal with Bronze Hourglass.
